Today in History

As we know it, February is Black History month.

Did You Know?

February 14, 1986: The Morehouse College was established in Augusta, Georgia. This intuition was later relocated to Atlanta. The New registration law in Tennessee abolished racial distinctions in voting.

February 14, 1936: The National Negro Congress was organized in Chicago. The congress organized at Chicago meeting was attended by 817 delegates representing more than 500 organizations. Asa Phillip Randolph of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters was elected president of the new organization.

These are just two facts that are relevant to today’s history. Knowing the history of yourself as well as others is very important. We should know and understand what the people before us endured and how things came about. In order for us to be able to live the way we live we must acknowledge the people who paved the road. You may find it interesting to see what happened today many years ago in history. If you are interested in knowing more I encourage you to look it up educate yourself.

"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”.-- Malcolm X
