When going to college the is main goal is to get a education and start a career. Students want to do something that interest them or be financially comfortable after college. But a lot of students are under the impression that the dream job is just going to be handed to them after college. Just because we have a degree does not make it easier to get a job.
We have to position our self to get our dream job and the way to do this is take full advantage of our schooling and resources on campus. We can start by taking advantage of the United student Government at Buffalo State College organization and the other student organization. This is a great way to network with students who have positioned themselves for success. Involved students can possibly give guidance and help you others join organizations. You may find something that interests you and can help you with a career opportunity.
Another way to put yourself in the right direction is utilizing career development center such as the Career Development Center in Cleveland hall located on Buffalo State Campus. They help you with your resume, cover letter, and choosing a career direction. They also have various workshops and job fairs for students.
Going to a job fair can help you land a job or internship. This is important for when you do graduate because you will have experience in your field. This can set you apart from your peers.
So to avoid career problems after graduation and avoid fear of graduation, make good use out of your campus resources and activities. This will benefit you in the future and make you that much closer to your dream job.
